Conquer Accelerator Announces 2016 Participants

EAST LANSING, MI – The Conquer Accelerator program at Michigan State University announces their inaugural cohort at the MSU Innovation Celebration held in the Huntington Club at Spartan Stadium. Designed to help both newer and established companies overcome business hurdles, Conquer emphasizes smart planning and growth, extensive mentorship from an experienced bench of professionals and structured educational components.

2016 GreenLight Business Model Competition Winners

The fourth annual GreenLight Business Model Competition announces winners of the March 30, 2016 competition. Competitors who impressed the panel of judges were able to win part of the $50,000 in cash prizes, the $25,000 grand prize being the largest, as well as network with numerous Michigan-based entrepreneurs and investors.

Bringitt to Represent MSU at Baylor New Venture Competition Finals

East Lansing, MI – The Baylor New Venture Competition will take place February 25-27, 2016 at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. The Competition is a two-day, dual round business plan competition and speed pitch competition promoting entrepreneurship and small business development. Innovate State Adds YouTube Star Tyler Oakley to Lineup

EAST LANSING, MI —The Innovate State Speaker Series at MSU announces a new addition to this year’s lineup: YouTube superstar Tyler Oakley. Established as one of the most influential LGBT vloggers, Tyler Oakley is an A-Lister in the digital age. Tyler and his best friend Korey Kuhl, both MSU alumni, host Psychobabble, a weekly show that tops the iTunes podcast charts.

Greenlight Awards Entrepreneurship in Port Huron

Port Huron, MI – The second instalment of Greenlight Port Huron announces three business competition winners and one student winner for 2015. $8,500 was available to contestants this year with $5,000 going to the first place pitch: Hoppily Ever After. Shannon Schwabe of Hoppily Ever After will receive an automatic seat to present at Greenlight Michigan in East Lansing in March 2016, where the top prize is $25,000 with the opportunity to win up to $50,000.

Startup Provides Unique Brewery Ingredients

A new Michigan State University startup company has found a way to apply Michigan’s role as first in chestnut production to the booming microbrew industry. Treeborn Products craft-roasts chestnuts to be used in the brewing process for both gluten-free and regular ales, stouts and porters.  Their craft-roasting process helps maximize chestnuts’ naturally sweet, nutty flavor.

Quantum Medical Concepts invests $150,000 in new company founded at MSU Innovation Center  

EAST LANSING, MI —A new medical device that will improve the way families treat infant jaundice is one step closer to market, thanks to a partnership between a new Michigan State University startup company and a Michigan-based medical sector investment firm. The startup, TheraB Medical Products Inc., (TheraB) was developed by MSU students with the help of Spartan Innovations and $150,000 in pre-seed stage funding from Quantum Medical Concepts.
